TOUR DE BARENTS COORDINATION PROJECT

The development of the Tour de Barents has been supported by public-funded projects.

The organisers of the Tour de Barents received funding for the first preparatory project from the Interreg III A North Kolarctic Neigbourhood programme. National public financing was granted by the State Provincial Office of Lapland and the Norwegian Barents Secretariat. The preparatory project was coordinated by Rovaniemi Regional Development Agency Ltd. and it was implemented 1.12.2007-30.4.2008.

Tour de Barents Coordination Project was implemented 1.5.2008-30.6.2009 and it was coordinated by Santasport Institute in Rovaniemi. Main financiers of the Coordination Project were Finnish Ministry of Education, Regional Council of Lapland and Norwegian Barents Secretariat. Project was financed also by City of Rovaniemi, Municipality of Inari, Santasport Institute, Municipality of Vadsö, Innovation Norway and Norwegian Ski Federation. The Coordination Project ended in June 2009.

The organising ski clubs have applied for further national public financing both in Norway and Finland for the preparations of the Tour de Barents 2010.
